Philadelphia, PA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/06/2018 -- Since its earliest days of hauling tractors, trailers and cranes wherever customers and communities needed them, Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. has stood for more than crane rentals in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. In fact, since 1947, the company has made philanthropy and community outreach amongst its highest priorities.
Consequently Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. is proud to announce the establishment of the Walter J. Thackray Scholarship at The Philadelphia Foundation, one of the country's oldest and the Greater Philadelphia region's largest community foundation. This scholarship has been created in fond memory of the company's co-founder and family patriarch, Walter J. Thackray, who passed away in 2010. It is the company's intention to foster his legacy of philanthropy and charitable giving through awarding this scholarship to deserving recipients.
The scholarship will award one $2,000 scholarship annually to an eligible high school senior furthering their education in either construction management or in the agricultural/horticultural field at a post-secondary college or university. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. A full list of eligibility criteria can be found here on The Philadelphia Foundation's web site. The application deadline is May 1, 2018.
Proud to be more than just a supplier of cranes and rigging in DE, PA, and NJ, Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. enthusiastically decided to partner with The Philadelphia Foundation to administer the scholarship due to the organization's commitment to improving the quality of life in Greater Philadelphia. Since 1918, The Philadelphia Foundation has built, managed and distributed philanthropic resources effectively – including more than 50 scholarships, which, like the Walter J. Thackray Scholarship, have open applications.
Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. co-founders, Walter and Anna (nee Cassalia) Thackray maintained an undeniable work ethic while building their company and diversifying its construction services over time, all while raising their six children. As the region's largest continuously family owned and operated crane rental company, its motto of faith, family and country is what truly distinguishes it from other NJ rigging companies. Being family owned and operated, the company continues to maintain hands-on relationships with both customers and the community overall.
